On May 30th, 2026, our very own Clarkston Varsity Softball team competed in their 2026 district tournament against their great rival, Lake Orion. From battling consistently in every inning to expressing much perseverance and energy in every pitch thrown, our Clarkston Wolves never lost their drive in fighting the Lake Orion Dragons. The game resulted in a loss of 14 to 4, yet was still a win from the words of our graduating, hardworking seniors in the last game of their last season.
Starting strong with our first senior, Savannah Kramer, Clarkston Varsity Softball’s shortstop and resilient runner. Kramer, throughout the entire softball season, presented much confidence and put the ball in play as many times as she could. From constant stolen bases to sprinting towards the unreachable foul balls, Kramer contributed greatly to the Clarkston Varsity Softball team and will continuously contribute to her future college softball team. Kramer deems the importance of a good season from being a player on a team, springs from watching a team bond and have something to laugh about at the end of the day.
“Although we lost today, our team has had so much good chemistry throughout the season, and I will never forget the fun times we had together. I will miss us,” Kramer said.
From being in Kramer’s shoes, as a senior in her last game, she reveals that the good times and fun experiences, one may never forget, are the best ones to hold onto.
Now let’s transition into our second senior, Amelia Floros, Clarkston Varsity Softball’s starting center fielder and consistent team captain. Floros thrived throughout the entire season in leading the Clarkston Varsity Softball team with positivity and energy. From giving encouraging advice to diving remarkable plays, Floros led Clarkston Varsity Softball with resilience and shaped the team’s atmosphere into confidence. Floros strongly believes that the key to a successful team, at the end of the day, from being a player on a team like herself, is the recognition of persistent growth.
“I wouldn’t dwell on the loss because looking back towards the beginning of the season versus the end, it was so amazing to see how much everyone grew this year, and together we have become such a successful team,” Floros said.
From Floros’s perspective, to finally ending the season on a high note, she displays that dwelling on a bad outcome would be inconvenient since recognizing growth is the key to future successes.
Although the scoreboard may have read 14-4, the true victory lies in the heartfelt final reflections of our graduating seniors. As the season has finally disclosed, their relentless effort and team spirit prove that true success isn’t measured by losses.
