The Hunger Games is a book series and movie that has a huge fan base, which has slowly grown over the years. The first book came out on September 14, 2008. Since then, Suzanne Collins has written 4 more books with the newest one coming out last year titled Sunrise on the Reaping. All of The Hunger Games series books have become a movie, and so will her newest book, which is supposed to be in theaters on November 20th, 2026. The trailer has already come out sparking more people’s interest.
We interviewed CJHS student Elle Siewek, asking whether she preferred the movie or books better.
“I like the books a lot better because the movie doesn’t capture the details and all of the emotions like the book does,” Siewek said.
This book series is very popular in the YA genre. It is a dystopian YA novel series that follows the main character, Katniss Everdeen, and how she overcomes the Capitol and their power over the districts. In The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, it follows Coriolanus Snow, the president of all of Panem. It follows how he was a mentor for the 10th hunger games, and how he became the way he is. Sunrise of the Reaping is about Haymitch Abernathy, a tribute for district 12, for the 50th Hunger Games, and how he tried to overthrow the Capitol.
“My favorite book is Mockingjay because it shows how Katniss overrules the Capitol and shows how good eventually overcomes evil,” CJHS student Alejandro Gonzalvo said.
In conclusion, this movie and book series has sparked interest in many people; it is an amazing story for all ages.
