On January 21st, the Student Advisory Board recently became a new club addition to our school community at CJHS. The club aims to build a bridge between students and teachers, with the goal of creating a safer and better school environment. Although the club has only just started a couple of weeks ago, it already has plans for CJHS. The Student Advisory Board was created so that students can give teachers and administration input on what is going on in our school and what needs to be done. During the first and second meeting, members discussed student clubs, school facilities, and the mental health of students.
“We are focused on club funding and school event funding because there needs to be more money for the new events and clubs. Also, a big thing is better and cleaner bathrooms. Adding on, we also aim to make people feel more included,” Mason White, a Freshman at CJHS and president of the Student Advisory Board said.
White and the board plan to work with staff to address the bathroom issues, school funding, and communication. During the meetings, they also addressed stronger emotional support systems with counselors and the idea of a future Club Fair.
“The Advisory Board plans on creating a collaborative event that brings together students to increase communication in our school.” Jack Abrams, a freshman at CJHS and a club member in the Student Advisory Board said.
As the Student Advisory Board continues meeting throughout the school year, members want to get students’ opinions and show results to the administration. The future meetings will also focus on funding, picking up trash, and upcoming events. The Advisory Board is putting in work and continuing to get student advice to make our school a better place.
