Two 8th grade girls on the CJHS volleyball team were interviewed on their favorite part about volleyball, some challenges that come with it, and any tips for upcoming volleyball players.
“My favorite part about volleyball is just the sport in general, and playing in the games. One challenging thing about volleyball is communication with your teammates. Sometimes, the communication can be off, or unclear, so that can be difficult. One tip I would give future volleyball players would be to try your best in everything. If you mess up, pick yourself back up and do better next time. If you mess up, don’t beat yourself up over it, and tell yourself you can do it, because you can if you try,” CJHS 8th grader Cheyenne McKinley said.
This shows how passionate McKinley is about volleyball, and I think everyone needs to hear.
“My favorite part of volleyball is making new friends and learning new things. A challenge I face is to not get stuck in my head while playing. Some tips I have for future volleyball players is to always be confident, try your best, and work hard for improvement,” CJHS 8th grader Leah Mendez said.
The best tip Mendez gives is to be confident. This can help your performance, because if you don’t feel confident, it will show negatively in your performance. While you can get stuck in your head, it’s important to bring yourself up and to just try your best.
While any sport brings its own challenges, may it be off communication or performance, it can bring teammates together and spark friendships. You work together with your teammates and that can bring you together. It’s important to always try your best in everything you do and to leave room for improvement. It can be hard when you’re doubting yourself, but the best thing to do is to tell yourself you can do it and to try your best.
