Do you want a nice summer vacation that is still in Michigan, but don’t know where to go? Go to Traverse City, where there are a lot of things to do and to explore there.
1. Downtown Traverse City
In downtown Traverse City, there are a ton of mini shops and restaurants on main street, and you can walk down there and see all of the different shops and restaurants. It’s a fun place to go if you like walking and window shopping.
2. Sleeping Bear Dunes
While you have to get tickets, the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes is a fun place to see the water and to sightsee, and if you’re brave enough, to walk down the dunes.
3. Clinch Park
This is a great place to go and see the water, go on the decks, and walk around. It has a great view of the water and you can see all of the different kinds of boats on the water. And if you catch it at the right time, they may have an amusement park with rides and ferris wheels in the summer.
4. State Theatre
This theatre is a great tourist attraction where you can either just go see it in person, or you can go in and actually watch a movie there. It’s a great place to go to if you want that comfy and inviting experience to watch a movie.
5. Mission Point Lighthouse
This lighthouse is a historical landmark in Traverse City called the “Hesler Log Home,” where you can actually go into the house and see it for yourself. The only thing is, there are certain times when it is open and where you can go in, so you have to check the hours. But it’s by woods and water, so you can explore through there. There is also a log cabin you can see there too. It’s just a beautiful place to explore with the combination of woods, water, and historical landmarks.
6. Paddle TC
Here in Grandview Pkwy, Traverse City, is a kayak and canoe rental service where you rent either a kayak or a canoe and can go on the water and have fun. It’s a great place to go to have a great time with friends and family by exploring the water by rowing your kayak/canoe. You can also go on the trails on land and go for nature walks or to ride your bike.
7. The Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park
This place is a botanical garden with the sights of bunches of different plants, mini statues, and mini creeks. There are many things to see here with fairy trails, different flowers, plants, and more! It’s such a beautiful place to go, especially in the summer, to see all the flowers in bloom and the sun shining on them. There are so many things to see and explore here.
8. City Opera House
Last but not least, there is the City Opera House. This place is a beautiful place to see inside, and there are different events that take place here like talk shows, musicians, and plays. While there are certain days where it is active with a show, it’s definitely a cool place to go to on a night out in Traverse City.
Traverse City has a lot of different tourist attractions and activities to keep you busy. These are the few places that are definitely worth visiting, from my experience visiting Traverse City. In my opinion, the best time to visit Traverse City is in the summer, because you get the whole effect of the summer air, all the pretty plants, the water nice and calm, and the great weather to go and explore!
