School life, sports life. It’s a hard mix. But CJHS students balance it. Most students who are in middle school, junior high, and high school at Clarkston play sports, and balancing school and sports isn’t always easy.
Student Anna Bessert balances her day-to-day life of school and soccer.
“I try to organize my time wisely so I have time for each assignment and can get them all done on top of soccer,” Bessert said.
Bessert stays on top of things, maintaining straight A’s. She balances her time and her priorities and knows how to manage them. She also participates in NJHS and Link Crew, on top of everything else, maintaining yet more extracurricular activities. She strives for her best no matter what she’s doing, whether it’s soccer or school, Bessert is always striving for her best.
Let’s jump into our next student athlete, McKenna Hannenberg. Hannenberg is a student athlete who also maintains school and soccer.
“I balance school and sports by keeping a healthy diet and putting school work first,” Hannenberg said.
In school, you’ll always find Hannenberg going the extra mile, putting her top priorities before everything else. But what’s really cool is that Hannenberg doesn’t stop there. Outside of school, she’s just as hardworking, taking on sports and after-school activities, and on top of everything, maintaining a healthy diet is a huge help.
For our last student athlete, we have Lilly Lynch. Lynch prioritizes her school needs and volleyball needs, and balances both in her academics and athletics.
“When I get home from school, I take 30 minutes to study or do homework; that saves me enough time to get ready for volleyball practice. I make sure to prioritize what I need to do for school and for volleyball,” Lynch said.
In school and outside of school, Lynch is hardworking and stays on top of everything that needs to get done. As she said, she puts work first and prioritizes it when she gets home. Putting in extra work in her academics and athletics, going above and beyond, so she can be the best version of herself. Lynch participates in school volleyball alongside club volleyball, and stays on top of school and everything else. She is a hard worker and is great at what she does!
I am a student athlete myself, and everything they said, I can relate to. If you are ever struggling with balancing school and sports, you are never alone, and maybe try a technique one of these CJHS student athletes said. Keep your heads up and strive for your best, no matter what! Go wolves!
