Every Tuesday, the Union Woodshop in Downtown Clarkston hosts a trivia night. It is in the upstairs of the restaurant and there are 2 rounds, 1 starting at 7:00, the other starting at 8:00. It is a fun experience for the people who live in Clarkston, and a great business opportunity for the Woodshop.
Scott Moccia, the host, says his favorite part about trivia night is interacting with all of the different teams.
“I taught 8th grade for 30 years, so hosting was fairly similar,” Moccia said. “I enjoy playing trivia, and my team broke up, so I thought this was a way to keep on keepin’ on.”
The upstairs of the Woodshop has tons of seating, a few arcade games, darts, and a bar. Music is always playing, the lights are dim, and the ambiance is unmatched. They serve food and drinks throughout the game as well.
Rhonda Samerick bartends and waits at The Woodshop. Samerick says she enjoys trivia night because she gets to meet so many new people and learn a lot of new things.
“Trivia brings a lot of people in, and they seem to really enjoy it,” Samerick said. “Before trivia, I would sit up here with maybe one or two people.”
The questions during trivia range from current events/pop culture, to things you may have learned in school years ago.
Sarah Bublitz, who attends weekly, says it’s a good way to get out of the house after working all day.
“I personally don’t win, but my team does,” Bublitz said. “I just enjoy spending time with my friends, and we have fun trying to guess the ones we don’t know.”
Trivia Night is a great and fun way to meet new people, and get out of the house. Next time you are sitting around wondering what to do, go check out what’s happening at the Woodshop.
