Everyone has a favorite class, or a class they enjoy and look forward to every day. So, 3 CJHS students were interviewed on what their favorite class is, if it impacts their future career choice, and why they like that class.
“My favorite class is PBL History with Mr. Laidlaw because it is really fun learning the different events in History and doing the projects. The projects impact my learning because it helps me understand everything in a different light. This class does impact my future career, because I want to be a social worker, so being able to work through different things and speaking in front of other people can help with that. My favorite thing I learned this year was learning about the Holocaust and how it affected so many people. The challenging parts of this class was having to work with people I don’t like or agree with,” 9th grader Savannah Seibold said.
PBL’s biggest target is to spark inspiration and creativity in students on a specific topic, and do projects in ELA and History. This helps students better understand the topic they are learning with presentations, hands-on activities, and projects.
“My favorite class is Choir with Mr. Neidack because it has such a big community and everyone is close to each other. It’s a very welcoming place to be. This class does impact what I want to do for my future, in a way, because it allows me to work and communicate with different people. My favorite thing we learned in class this year was learning the minor scale because I really understood it. One of the challenging parts of this class was performing in front of a lot of people because it’s nerve-racking,” 8th grader Grace Gonzales said.
Choir, from the perspective of Gonzales, and other students in this class, is a welcoming place to be in. Students come together and work together by singing their parts, which takes partnership and teamwork. This builds a community between all the students from working together.
“Yearbook is my favorite class because the teacher and the students are really connected and we all get along well. No, this class doesn’t impact my future career, because although it’s fun, I’d rather have a career that is more serious. My favorite thing we did in Yearbook was having a Thanksgiving feast with the class and hanging out with my classmates. The challenging part of this class was finding the time to go to the school events to take Yearbook photos,” 8th grader Aaliyah Villagrana says.
In Yearbook, the students and Mrs. Dennis are really close by working together, and it’s an all together welcoming place. While sometimes students have a hard time making time to go to games for the school to take pictures, the students work together and show how much fun school and events are from those photos.
All in all, everyone has a favorite class. It could be because they have a connection with their classmates, or they enjoy the material that is being taught, or they may feel like themselves in that class. A certain class that is special to you could show what you are good at, what you excel at because you enjoy it, or it may be because you have a connection with everyone in the class. Altogether, this shows what people enjoy and their perspectives on their favorite class.
