People all around the world have either heard about this book or have read it. Even fellow students at CJHS are rating this book five out of five stars.
“I rated the book Powerless a five out of five stars because of the interest it brings me. The book was very hard to put down, and the plot kept me interested the whole time,” CJHS student Reagan Thompson said.
To summarize, the plot begins with the main character, Paedyn Gray, who is labeled as an “ordinary.” In Paedyn’s society, being labeled as ordinary means you do not have powers, and therefore, you should be killed. From there, Paedyn is forced into the Purging Trials, which is a deadly competition where she will fight for her freedom. Soon, Paedyn will meet the king of Ilya and the prince, with whom she will later have a conflict.
It’s an action-packed and very suspenseful story that keeps readers interested. The danger of the trials and the big secret Peadyn must hide make the story very exciting. As Paedyn doesn’t have powers, she must rely on her intelligence to stay alive. When I first opened the book, I immediately loved the resilience of the characters and the unexpected events.
Throughout this story, readers who enjoy action, mystery, and a bit of romance in their books will love this pick. From the trials to the plot twists, this book will make anyone interested. I would definitely recommend Powerless by Lauren Roberts to anyone looking for an exciting and suspenseful book.
