Tap…Tap…Tap… As the drums start to beat, the band’s tempo is set. The drumsticks’ rhythmic tapping takes control, its beating harmonizes with all the other instruments, and flows into the surrounding hallways.
At the center of it all is CJHS freshman and musician, Vincent Gilbert, whose gentle tapping supports the whole band.
“My biggest passion is music,” Vincent said, “and it always has been.”
Vincent grew up in a musical household, which helped spark his love for music at a young age. As he got older, his love for music only grew stronger, with him eventually joining the Clarkston Marching Band as a percussionist.
Although he has talent and passion for music, and releases his own music projects on the streaming app, SoundCloud, he does not see himself pursuing a career in music as he believes his music is solely to be heard and enjoyed, not monetized.
Music isn’t the only thing Vincent is known for. Vincent has a reputation for making people around him smile with his witty humor, infectious laugh, and bright presence.
With drumsticks in one hand, and a funny joke in the other, Vincent Gilbert isn’t just keeping the bands’ tempo. He’s lifting the moods of everyone around him.
