Here is an inside look on the big risk that Reese Hukka took playing as the only freshman on varsity golf.
Many freshmen who play a varsity sport find it hard to click with the team, but that was not the case for Hukka.
After asking Hukka about her relationship with the older girls she said, “They have made me feel very welcome. Especially some of the seniors; they always made sure I was included.”
It’s very helpful that the older girls included her, but it was also very important for her to make an effort too. Sometimes in life not everything will be handed to you; you have to put yourself out there.
Then, we heard from Hukka on her favorite part of the season,”The best part was winning regionals. I started off pretty rough, but then my round turned around and so did the rest of the team. We all locked in and ended up getting first by twenty strokes.”
This is a great example of not giving up. After Hukka had a rough start she could have given up, but no, she powered through and brought home a trophy.
Finally, we heard about something she would have done differently if she could go back to golf season, “I wish I wouldn’t have taken it for granted, it went by very fast. Even though some of the months were very hard, I had a blast doing it! I wish I could go back everyday.”
Sometimes people tend to not enjoy the moments while in the present. They need to remember that time flies by, and will be over before you know it.
Hukka is proof that you will not regret taking risks in life. The achievements you make will always be with you. Time flies by, but memories last forever.
