Ninth grade CJHS student athletes Charlie Boehms, Lola Higgerson, and Audrey Rzepka spill their tips and tricks on how to balance their school and sports lives.
Many student athletes struggle when it comes to balancing school and sports, but these three students have got it down.
“One of the ways that I balance school and sports is just being disciplined and getting it all done first so I can enjoy the rest of my night,” Boehms said.
When I’m walking through the halls, I never see Charlie, he is always in his class getting his homework done so his night runs smoother.
Then, we heard from Higgerson on her ability to keep a list, “To maintain good grades when balancing my school and sports life, I keep a list of things that I have to do and when they have to be turned in so I can stay on top of them and prioritize them.”
Being a student athlete myself, I find using a list as a very effective way to tackle the work that I bring home. It’s nice to be able to check off the work as I get it done and see how much I have accomplished.
Finally, we heard from Rzepka on how she is already ahead of the schedule, “I try to get ahead as much as I can by looking on Google Classroom and seeing if there are any assignments posted early.”
Although some teachers don’t post work before the class, it is always good to check because they might surprise you. Maybe you could get an extra day to study for your math test or headstart on writing your essay.
I personally have tried all of these techniques and they have been working out great. Whether you use all of them or just one, I can assure you that your grades will stay up!
