On the field and at school, football players Samuel Ashley, an offensive lineman and a defensive tackle for the blue team, and Levi Sexton, a corner for the gold team, show a phenomenal representation of CJHS.
“Ethan Sowle influenced me to start doing football,” Ashley explained, “He said that I should do it… and I started playing.”
Sowle’s idea has completely altered Ashley’s perspective on life. In fact, ideas can affect everyone’s lives; your ideas and the ideas of others have the power to shape and transform both yourself and those around you.
Sexton got into football purely because he was interested. “I wanted to play football because…I wanted to do it my whole life, and it seemed really fun,” Sexton said.
Sports can carry out lifelong dreams and also begin new ones. Sexton has always wanted to be a player, whereas Ashley began because somebody else encouraged him to.
Even if you love something, there will always be parts that you don’t love as much. “Practice and conditioning are my least favorite, but the coaches definitely encourage me to want to be on the field,” Ashley said.
All sports can change you. They can help you overcome challenges, try new things, and learn lots of new things. All you have to do is have an open mind and determination.
