The Clarkston Cheer team has many dedicated cheerleaders, and an outstanding example is Lila Reay Dwire. Dwire balances her honors Math and English classes with her 2-3 hour cheer practices almost every single day. Dwire does an amazing job at balancing her sports, education, and social life. Her favorite class, art, gives her time to take a mental break.
“My favorite class is art because I love the people in the class and the teacher, and I just love doing art,” Dwire said.
Dwire explains why she loves Cheer, “Cheer is super fun, I love it, and I’ve grown so many friendships with the people on the team with me.”
Dwire has a strong bond with the team and loves hanging out with them. Even when busy with games, she enjoys the time with them. Cheer is definitely a sport where, no matter how good you are as an individual, you will always need teamwork to function correctly. Dwire and the rest of her team make sure to stay close so they are always communicating effectively.
Dwire makes sure to have a schedule of her day planned out so she is never behind, “My daily schedule is basically just going to school, then cheer, and then I just go home, shower, eat, catch up on homework if I have any- if not, then I talk to my friends and then go to sleep.” She has a productive schedule to make sure she’s not behind on any assignments and making the best out of every day.
