Greg Carswell, #71.
Greg Carswell, a player on the varsity football team, has a lot to be proud of. Football is tough, and not many can put up with the challenge.
“It takes a lot of dedication day in and day out, also with film and everything, you have to show up and work,” Carswell said.
When asked about what the hardest part of being on varsity is, Carswell said, “The hardest part is definitely the adversity we go through in practice and games. Also, when the energy gets low sometimes we have to hype each other up and get that energy up.”
I think this is really important for a team to be connected and have a good bond with other teammates. It’s nice when a team can bring each other together and lift themselves up as a team.
I also asked him about his favorite football moment, “It was freshman year…we were playing our rivals and I had a pull play and went around the tackle,” Carswell said. “I lifted the safety and the db [defensive back] for Ty Duffy so he could get the touchdown.”
Malachi Switzer, Carswell’s teammate, explains his feelings on varsity football, “I would definitely say the butterflies you get on game days and walking out to a crowd on Friday Night Lights is amazing.” I couldn’t imagine the feeling.
In my opinion, the football life is not for the weak; you really have to work for it.
