Georgia Cummins explains what the Oakland Schools Technical Campuses (OSTC) is like as a junior at Clarkston High School. The school provides lots of opportunities to learn more about a future career.
They have many classes that help students experience what a future job might be like. Some of these classes include computer programming, automotive technology, construction technology, criminal justice, and cosmetology. There are a few others, which can be found on the link at the top. Cummins was particularly interested in the cosmetology classes.
“I have always enjoyed doing friends’ and family’s hair, and when I found out about OSTC, I was excited to learn more about it,” Cummins said.
OSTC classes are held during the first two hours of the school day. It replaces some electives, but it’s an amazing experience and can look good on a college resume.
“I love being in OSTC, I get to meet new people from a variety of schools and get to learn more about the career I want to pursue,” Junior student Micaela Brown said. “I love how half my day is at OSTC and the other half is at the high school, it makes my day go faster.”
OSTC is an excellent, free program for students. It offers many opportunities and helps students learn valuable skills.
“Most hair schools cost a lot of money so being able to go to one with no cost is a blessing,” Cummins said.
