As the seasons change, so does the story of a woman who has called this town home, as well as her likes and loves of her home. Clarkston may be a “small town,” but it carries a large impact and memory with people.
Clarkston resident Lindsey Baker highlights her favorite part about Clarkston, “The sense of community. It’s a small town, with a small-town feel, but with lots around, grocery stores, and stuff like that, so it’s easy to go places and do things, with lots of fun things to do in town.” This shows how people think highly of a small town with great power over people. It brings people together and gives people the ability to try new things and really get out and participate in things within the community.
Baker reflects on what made her into the person she is today, “What has made me the person I am today? I think the people I’ve met along the way, for sure–my family and friends have contributed to the person I am today. Getting to experience a lot of travel and a lot of fun things in life, and even here in Clarkston, has taught me so many new things and brought so many new [opportunities] into my life.” People and places aren’t brought together for no reason, sometimes, it has a great effect on their lives and the world around them.
In the end, living in Clarkston exemplifies how a small town can shape individual identities and foster a strong sense of community. As residents like Lindsay Baker illustrate, the connections formed within these environments not only enrich lives, but also create lasting memories.
