The City of the Village of Clarkston clerk’s office is an important building in our community. City Clerk, Angie Guillen, and Deputy Clerk, Eveyln Bihl, work in this building along with the City Manager, Johnathan Smith, and Treasurer, Gregory Coté. Together they learned many things about teamwork, giving, and the importance of your role in the community.
Evelyn Bihl, a resident of Clarkston, plays a valuable role in our city. Bihl is Deputy Clerk at The City of the Village of Clarkston clerk’s office. She helps out with organizing elections, helps people looking for houses or repairs, and makes sure residents of Clarkston are getting the help they need.
Bihl grew up on the east side of Michigan and has been a resident of Clarkston since 1991. She is very passionate about her job and enjoys helping people in the community. Being able to help and volunteer is one of the things that keep her going. The satisfaction of serving people in need is enough to push her forward. If Bihl could give a piece of advice to the new generation, she said that it feels good to help other people.
“I think municipality work or government work,” Bihl shared. “You’re not going to make a whole heck of a lot of money, but it’s rewarding to help people and to basically volunteer, it needs to be corrected. You know, as far as wages go.”
She also added that flexibility is one thing she learned from her job. Working together is important for her career, and as long as she and her partner, city clerk Angie Guillen, can help each other, it makes their job much easier. “That’s the main thing: working together. You know, I know, it’s her role to be the clerk, but I’m going to help her…We just help.” Bihl said.
Not only is Bihl a significant helper of Clarkston, but her husband David Bihl worked for Clarkston Junior High School and Clarkston High School. Mr. Bihl taught in the school district for about 30 years. At the Junior High, he taught gifted kids for three years, then switched to the high school to teach psychology and peer listening.
Angie Guillen is an independent, giving, caring, and important feminine force in our community. Guillen is the City Clerk for Clarkston, Michigan.
Guillen is proud to be the City Clerk; she believes it is important to protect democracy, and make sure everyone has the right to vote, considering it will affect everyone.
Inspiration is important for everyone to have, for Guillien her biggest inspiration is her mom. Guillen claims “the unconditional love that she provides and that you get from your mom” is something that continues to motivate Guillen. Guillen’s upbringing is also a huge inspiration for her; it is something that keeps her pushing forward.
Women have not always been treated the kindest, and still continue to be mistreated or looked down upon just because they aren’t a man.”Also, as a woman, it’s just empowering to make your own money. And to be in a leadership role, but I think you need to lead by example,” Guillen said, who is a strong feminine leader in our community.
Guillen believes that helping and giving back is very important, especially in today’s economy. Guillen is always giving back to the community, even when sometimes she might not have much to give.
City Clerk, Angie Guillen, and Deputy Clerk, Evelyn Bihl, are two important figures in our community. They are two empowering feminine forces, who will continue to improve our world. If there were more people who were as kind, caring, and strong-willed as Guillen and Bihl, our world would be a better place. Clarkston is blessed to have these two wonderful women in our community.
