Nicky Wyckoff lives in Clarkson, has 3 children, and is 63 years old.
Wyckoff reflects on an important life lesson, “Everything is temporary, especially the hard times, so when you think ‘I’m not going to get through this,’ you do and the next thing you know everything is better.”
This is an amazing belief, and I think a lot of people might agree. This helps show Wyckoff as a person, and I do really agree with what she means about everything being temporary, and everything and everyone will get through it. Even if you might feel that you can’t, there are so many ways people can help and resources if you feel you won’t get out of things; you always will. There will always be a time where we feel we can’t do something and I think a lot of people will relate and it might help them.
Wyckoff explains how the Clarkston community has impacted her life, “I grew up here, my husband grew up here, my parents still live here, and all of our kids are still living here. So many friends have moved back–all of them are old school friends all around Clarkston, so it has been a huge part of my life. Always home, very comforting.”
It’s so amazing that she has a community that is like home to her. She has been living here since she was a kid. It’s important to think that all of the people she loves are in this town, the people she cares deeply about. So when people you love and care about are all close together, it makes you love the place you are in a lot better.
Wyckoff also explains her love for animals, “I have had a cat my whole entire life. I’ve had hamsters, gerbils, dogs, birds, lizards, ducks, and many many wild animals.”
I love this so much and I love how patient she is about animals, especially since I love animals as well.
Her emotions bounced off of her when she talked about her mom, “My mom, my mom has been huge. I have learned so much from her in terms of being considerate of others. She remembers to send birthday cards when I don’t.”
Everyone should have someone to look up to. A role model can affect you in a positive way and make you feel better about yourself, and it also gives you a goal mindset. And it is very good for everyone to share their opinions, or else everything will be boring, and that’s why I came to downtown Clarkston today; to let someone share their opinion.
