Depending on what your day looks like, you might get the chance to see hundreds of strangers that you have never met. It’s always interesting to find out someone’s backstory. When you think of it, someone’s backstory could be the most mind-blowing thing, or it could even be just a calm, “normal” life. We interviewed Marion Salwin, a kind person who we met in downtown Clarkston.
Salwin is originally from Portland, Oregon. Salwin and her husband moved to Clarkston around 6 years ago due to his job. Another thing that brought them here is their love for golf.
“In addition to why we came to Clarkston is that we like to golf, and we knew that one day, when we retire, we would like to golf. So we’re in a golf course community,” Salwin said.
When asked what advice or quote she would give to 8th and 9th graders, she talked about just living life to the fullest and being yourself. She shared that if you aren’t being yourself, you’ll find friends who aren’t meant for you. You should try and connect with your community.
“Get to know as many people as possible and just constantly be who you want in your life,” Salwin said. “Be your best possible person because that’s the people you want in your life is the best possible people.”
Overall, Salwin’s story encourages people to enjoy school and the idea of being young. Don’t be afraid to be yourself because life is more enjoyable when you are. You never know what someone’s backstory is, so always be aware, respectful, and curious.
