Students are always looking forward to the weekend–excited for plans and events that will go on, but first they must wait through the long school week. The school week is way longer and really outnumbers the weekend. The weekend only gives you so much time with only two days, but the school week is a whole five days.
Whenever there is a long weekend, students are always looking forward to it and to miss an extra day of school. Longer weekends give more time to recharge and catch up on sleep.
According to The Dispatch, “Many people on campus hardly get a sufficient break from everyday stress until summer, which isn’t healthy for their body.”
People wait until summer to get a full rest, which your body requires to stay healthy. This situation could be avoided with a longer weekend to achieve more sleep to be well rested for the next school week.
With a three day weekend every week it gives more time to get stuff outside of school done without having absences in class. Having no school on a Friday each week can give more time for activities without having to leave school early or going to school late.
According to The Bethel Collegian, “Three day weekends provide students with the opportunity and availability to attend appointments without having to skip classes.”
It is hard to squeeze in time for appointments with a busy week and weekend and with an extra day off there is more time to wind down and get stuff done.
By the time Friday comes, students can be tired and unmotivated to go to school. Some even convince their parents to skip Friday. With shorter school weeks, students will have more motivation knowing the weekend is coming up.
According to The Journalist’s Resource, “Many make the change hoping to recruit more teachers, save money and boost student attendance.”
A longer weekend has many advantages; longer weekends help students, teachers, and schools.
Longer weekends improve student attendance, sleep schedules, and provide students and staff with extra time for activities and appointments. Having a three day weekend every week is a great idea not only for students, but teachers too.
