At CJHS, homecoming is a big deal; this year, it landed on October 4th. To bring up the energy the whole week before the dance, we have spirit week. All throughout the week, we dress up in colorful and sometimes silly costumes. You can feel the energy and the spirit of the student classes.
“It shows how one idea can make people feel more included by following a thing or participating in something altogether,” 8th-grade student Sophia Tringali said.
With this being the 8th graders’ first year at the junior high school, it’s different for them. For the 9th graders, on the other hand, they have already done this before at CJHS at least. When asked if spirit week was different or better/worse, Sophia explained, “More people follow it, and there are better themes.”
After seeing the point of view of Spirit Week from a student, here’s what a teacher thinks about it. Ms.Tracey Li is a new teacher at Clarkston Junior High who thinks spirit week is fun! Although she loves the themes, she struggled to find something that matches.
“It was fun, it was just hard because I had to search my house for something,” Li said.
Because she has graduated, she has seen multiple different themes and fun ideas. Overall, her favorite theme she saw at CJHS was pink out! But she also loves the rhyming duo outfits!
“I love pink, but I’ve seen the rhyme partners. I really like that one,” Li said.
