As the leaves turn and the air grows crisp, there’s nothing quite like curling up with a movie that captures the essence of fall—from spine-chilling thrillers to heartwarming themes in the characters’ lives, movies and shows are what bring out the most fall for me.
- Hocus Pocus
Hocus Pocus is a fall and Halloween movie because it takes place on Halloween night and is all about witches, magic, and spooky fun. It gives a cozy feel due to the laid-back but funny family feel, from funny jokes to real-life Halloween traditions.
- Hubie Halloween
Hubie Halloween is a fall and Halloween movie mainly because it takes place on Halloween night; it keeps a light, fun-filled atmosphere while keeping the “scary theme” throughout the movie, while keeping it a family movie with jokes to keep adults entertained and the kids as well.
- Gilmore Girls
Gilmore Girls is a fall show due to its cozy town and beginning of school feel; the weather is cool with brittle orange and brown leaves, with the major spot being a little cozy cafe. Another way it gives fall vibes is the choice in wardrobe and decor it truly just makes the fall aesthetic pop.
- Coraline
Coraline is a fall movie due to its Halloween category. It’s like this because of the dark and creepy unsettling horror themes, while being animated to draw in the younger audience. While it isn’t based on or necessarily around Halloween, its themes and visuals give off the spooky Halloween feel most look for.
- Nightmare Before Christmas
The story is primarily set in Halloween Town, and it’s a spooky, gothic aesthetic and animated characters to keep the cozy feel. While the plot does involve the switch to Christmas, it is morally focused on Halloween.
In the end, these movies may not be for everyone, but for me, they truly put me in a fall and spooky feeling. These movies give a mix of fall and Halloween, and that’s truly what most including me look for.
