Concerts are a GREAT way to connect with people who have similar interests! Residents of Clarkston are lucky enough to live near Pine Knob Music Theater. Students Lexi Hotchkin and Quinn Kircher both dive into their experiences at some recent concerts in the community.
Quinn Kircher says music has really helped her get through some tough times. Kircher has attended multiple concerts in her life. Kircher recently attended Zach Bryan at the Big House! This concert broke records with the amount of people attending. Kircher claims that all the people there caused some anxiety, but this all went away when Kircher and her friends arrived at their seats.
“The energy just changes and everyone is connected in some way,” Kircher said.
Kircher attended this concert with some of her friends and they were all ecstatic with the setlist. “I was so happy when he announced he was going to be playing Starved!” Kircher said. When asked if there were any songs she wished he would’ve played, Kircher claims she wished Zach Bryan would’ve played “Don’t give up on me” even though he didn’t play this song she has no regrets and would do it all again.
Hotchkin has also attended previous concerts, but recently attended Suicideboys at Pine Knob. Hotchkin states that it was a highlighted moment in her life. Hotchkin explains how their music has helped her get through so many hardships and struggles; whenever she has a bad day, she would put on their music.
“The environment there just made me feel as if I had a home, especially the speech they gave,” Hotchkin said.
Hotchkin explains that the artists gave a speech that talked about various struggles and topics which really hit home for her. Hotchkin talks about how there were so many kind people there, and everyone felt like a community.
Everyone is a part of a community, everyone has “their people.” You might not realize it, but even if you feel like you don’t fit in or aren’t included in anything, I promise there is a community that will feel like home. For many people, it may be a sport, church, a club, etc, and for some, it’s a concert! Concerts are a great place to bring people together. So if you see someone in the hall, or at the store and they are wearing a band shirt, or a concert shirt of a band or artist you like, say hi, and go from there.
