Fall is the season of feelings: scared, happy, love, and excitement. There’s no better way to feel all these things than a good fall movie. With that, here are my friend Jordan’s and mine top 5 fall movies!
- The Nightmare Before Christmas (by Tim Burton):
The Nightmare Before Christmas is about a small town full of scary monsters. Jack Skellington is almost like the celebrity of the town. He has a secret admirer named Sally, who loves Jack but can’t show it because her dad controls her. Jack gets tired of doing the same Halloween every year. He ventures into a forest to clear his head and discovers a whole new town. Here is where the story unravels.
- Corpse Bride (also by Tim Burton):
This movie shows Victor, a young man sent by his wealthy parents to marry Victoria. Victoria is perfect and Victor tries his best to impress. He, being nervous about their marriage ceremony, runs away into a nearby forest. While there, practicing his vows, he puts a ring on a stick resembling a hand. The hand rises from the ground and turns out to be a young dead woman in a wedding dress. The movie then takes him into the underworld, where he learns many valuable lessons.
3. Coraline (by Henry Selick):
Coraline is a stop-motion movie from 2009. The film is about a girl who moves into a new house, but discovers a secret door that leads to a direct copy of her world and her family. The copy family tries everything in their power to keep Coraline in the copy world, and she has to try to get out. This is a fall classic and one of my favorite movies with a creepy Halloween twist.
- Casper
Casper is a friendly ghost who lives in an abandoned mansion alongside other ghosts. He is also the only friendly one out of the group. One day, ghost investigators show up at the house to find the ghost. This movie is a must-watch and also very family-friendly.
- Hocus Pocus
It is about how these three witches capture kids and take their souls to get younger and look pretty again. Then, these kids are trying to send them back to death, but the witches are also trying to kill the kids. Hocus Pocus is a great movie to get into the fall mood with the spooky vibe and funny movie.
