When I think of fall, lots of people think of scary movies and Halloween costumes, but I think of the music. When you go apple picking and when you go on hay rides, you will definitely think of these songs to get you in the Lorelai Gilmore mood.
“Ceilings” by Lizzy McAplpine
“Ceiling” came out in 2022 in the album Five Seconds Flat. Lizzy isn’t very well-known, but bits and parts of her songs have gone viral, such as “And it feels like the start of a movie I’ve seen before.” Her songs are indie and folk-pop, and definitely worth checking out!
“All Too Well” by Taylor Swift
“All Too Well” first came out in 2012 from singer-songwriter Taylor Swift on the album Red. The song also features a 10-minute version, which is definitely worth checking out this autumn.
“There She Goes” by The La’s
The La’s first came out with the song in the 90s. It was also featured in the hit show for fall, Gilmore Girls, in 2000. This song makes me feel like I’m walking downtown New York with a hot cup of coffee in my hand and most definitely brings the fall vibes.
“Linger” by The Cranberries
“Linger” is such an original song for fall! It came out in 1994 in the United States and gained a lot of popularity as soon as it hit here. A lot of people know it from the common lyric “You know I’m such a fool for you.”
“Unlearn” by Gracie Abrams and Benny Blanco
“Unlearn” came out in 2022 in the album “FRIENDS KEEP SECRETS 2.” The song doesn’t have much popularity, but it is so well written and something that gets you to think.
“the 1” by Taylor Swift
The album “Folklore” is a great place to find new, sadder songs that remind me of fall. “The 1” is one of my favorite songs and is beautifully written, following a relatable story of a girl being in love with someone, but they are not reciprocating her feelings.
“Amelie” by Gracie Abrams
“Amelie” is one of my favorite underground songs; it illustrates the story’s growth and shows who she was, but now who she is. Gracie Abrams has amazing songs to check out this fall and all year round.
“Everywhere, Everything” Noah Kahan and Gracie Abrams
Noah Kahan definitely brings cold autumn energy, and he went viral a few years ago for the song “Stick Season.” His and Gracie’s vocals blend so well, and the song is very well-written. It’s about love and how you want to go with everything with that person, even the hard and messy.
“Somewhere in the Orange” by Zach Bryan
A country singer-songwriter, Zach Bryan, came out with this #1 hit in 2022. This song is sad and definitely makes you feel lots of emotions. The theme is being alone in a love that you have for someone slipping away.
“Kiss Me” by Sixpence None The Richer
“You wear those shoes and I will wear that dress” had become one of the most popular homecoming transitions. This song puts me in the fall spirit of football games and making cookies late at night.
“Where You Lead, I Will Follow” by Carole King
Many people recognize this song as the theme song from the show mentioned previously, “Gilmore Girls.” This song does make you feel like you’re walking down Main Street in Stars Hollow with a coffee in hand and your best friend next to you.
“Matilda” by Harry Styles
When most people think of Matilda, a lot of people think of the movie or the musical; I think of the song. The song “Matilda” shows the movie wonderfully, but Styles also adds his own twist on it; the calm and gentleness of the song is perfect for reading by the fireplace.
“Fine Line” by Harry Styles
“Fine Line” is his 2019 hit title track album; it’s heavier than some of the other songs on the album, but also one of the best. The song shows a good story about how, in the end, they will come together and be alright. This song is definitely not a skipper.
“tolerate it” by Taylor Swift.
The table scene in the Eras Tour. That’s all you need to know that the next song is “tolerate it,” a work of art in music, from are only a few words about this song. It makes you feel for the character and understand what they are going through. It’s sad and emotional and perfect to reflect on this fall.
“Heather” Conan Gray
Most of the time, people wish they were someone else; Conan is the same. As he said it, he does wish he were Heather. This song is perfect to be wrapped up in with a comfy sweater and maybe some tissues, but it is perfect for the season.
Now that you have a perfect fall playlist, don’t forget to get some snacks and something cozy to wrap yourself up in. Even the crunching of the crisp fall leaves below your feet won’t make your ears this happy.
