The leaves are slowly changing colors and the air is getting crisp. The contemplation on what to listen to is one of the main things on many minds. Here are some songs you should add to your fall playlist!
“November Air”- Zach Bryan
Zach Bryan’s song “November Air” is an emotional song about loss, memory, and love. It’s a song about grieving a motherly figure and how the seasons changing the scenery brings all the memories back.
“Pet Sematary” – Ramones
The song “Pet Sematary” by Ramones is about a man who wishes to not be buried in a pet cemetery because he doesn’t want to relive his life over again. This is explained in an extended metaphor in reference to the story Pet Sematary by Stephen King, constantly referring to characters and scenes in the book. This song is perfect to get into the Halloween spirit.
“Don’t Fear the Reaper” – Gus Black
A scary movie classic, “Don’t fear the Reaper” by Gus Black is a song commonly used in scary movies. Listening to this song during fall might help you get into the spooky season through the song’s off-putting lyrics and instrumental beat. Listening to this song might remind you to never answer a random phone call. On that note, what’s your favorite scary movie?
“Intersection” – Modern Baseball
“Intersection” by Modern Baseball is an emotional piece that is about everyone and everything changing when you’re at a stand still, or not ready. When fall comes, many people are stuck on the warm weather and unprepared. “Intersection” is an emotional piece touching on everything shifting and you being stuck on the wrong path. Even if you made the wrong turn at the intersection, you can always turn around.
“Landslide” – Fleetwood Mac
“Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac is an emotional piece that dives into self reflection, growing older, and overall viewing and accepting change. Fall is when the leaves start to change colors beautifully, and then slowly disintegrating and turning into something else beautiful to help this earth which describes getting older in a sense.
“It’s Called: Freefall” – Rainbow Kitten Surprise
The song “It’s Called: Freefall” is about a person who dedicates their life to trying to be a good friend to others but fails and resorts to turning to the Devil for friendship. The Devil is no help to the person and pushes them further into misery, leading them to want to commit “freefall” to let go of all the pain. Eventually, the Devil explains that lots of other people end up in the same situation, and “freefall” isn’t the answer. It’s better to fall out of your poor habits and get out of your pool of misery than to commit “freefall” and lose yourself to your problems and feelings.
“Yeah Boy and Doll Face” – Pierce The Veil
“Yeah Boy and Doll Face” by Pierce The Veil is a song that explains the story of a complicated relationship between a boy deeply in love with a girl who isn’t as interested as the boy thought she was. The song is sad, yes, but it has a lot of relatable aspects and is a beautiful emotional song about passion and what it can do to a person.
“Jumper” – Third Eye Blind
“Jumper” is a song about still holding on despite emotions of anger, sadness, and hatred. Even though emotions and actions from other people are difficult to deal with, the pre-chorus states “‘put the past away.’” This song is motivational and has brought a lot of people together and pushed them to keep going in spite of their history.
Let’s make this fall season a good one with some music to put you in the fall mood. Hope this list helps you get into the autumn spirit. There’s nothing better than hot cider and a nice playlist!
