Fall is right around the corner, which means costumes and scary movies, but most importantly, Halloween candy. The tradition of “trick or treating” involves people going around on Halloween night saying “trick or treat” to get candy. Children will end up with big stashes of assorted candy. From dark chocolate treats to sour gummy candy, you will find the top five most bought candies during the Halloween season below.
At number 5, we have Milky Way.
Milky Way is a chocolate candy bar, with a caramel and fluffy nougat featured inside. Milky Ways were first introduced in 1923, and are an American favorite around Halloween time.
At a polar opposite, number 4 is Sour Patch Kids.
Sour Patch kids are a flavored gummy like candy, covered in citric acid and sugar. They’re known for their “sour then sweet” flavor.
For number 3, we have a Kit Kat Bar.
Kit Kat’s are crisp chocolate wafer bars, with chocolate coating in the inside of the bar. Kit Kat’s are crunchy, and rather delicious.
M&M’s are taking the number 2 spot.
M&M’s are a colorful button shaped candy, with a hard candy covered shell, and a chocolate filled inside. They also include a lowercase “m” on all of the individual candies.
Finally, coming in at the number 1 spot… Reese’s Pieces Peanut Butter Cups.
These contain a filling made of peanut butter while the outside contains a milk chocolate crunchy shell. In 2024 alone, $3.5 billion dollars worth of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups were sold in the U.S.
